On 21 August 2020 the second generation Levorg was released in Japan, and on 15 October 2020 it was released with three trim levels at launch: GT, GT-H and STI Sport. The CB18 engine was chosen to balance an increase in maximum torque to 300 newton meters with improved fuel economy from lean burn technology. The second generation Levorg sits on the Subaru Global Platform used by the majority of Subaru's family cars. The name Levorg is a portmanteau of Legacy, revolution and touring.
