In December 2018 Opel announced the launch of an electric version of the Corsa, called the Corsa-e, which was originally planned to go on sale in 2019, but was delayed into the second quarter of 2020. In the UK the Corsa-e is sold under the Vauxhall marque. Its main competitors were expected to be the Nissan Leaf and the Renault Zoe, and its mechanically identical twin is the Peugeot e-208. The electric Corsa-e went on sale in 2020.
