Ford did not produce the E Series for the 2020 model year, so there was a gap in the long history of the van, which had been sold each year since 1961. The cutaway was to return for 2021 with an entirely new interior and the 7.3 litre gasoline V8. The E Series was Ford's full size van, sold as the Econoline and Club Wagon and as a cutaway chassis. It was the best selling full size van in the United States from 1980 until the Transit replaced the vans in 2014.
