In 2017 Ford recalled Transit Connects with 1.6 litre EcoBoost engines built from 2013 to 2015 because of a risk of engine fires from a lack of coolant circulation, a recall that helped lead to a charge of 300 million dollars. The van was still built in Spain. It sat between the Transit Courier and the Transit Custom in the Ford Transit range. The Transit Connect was Ford's compact panel van, developed by Ford of Europe as a dedicated commercial vehicle.
