In a switch to an aluminium intensive body like that of the F 150, Ford created a potential 700 pounds of weight saving for the 2017 Super Duty, so that the truck weighed up to 350 pounds less than the 2016 models despite stronger frame and driveline parts. It was the fourth generation. Ford assembles the trucks at the Kentucky Truck Plant in Louisville and at Ohio Assembly in Avon Lake. The Super Duty is a dedicated heavy duty variant of the F Series, sold above the F 150 with Power Stroke diesel engines as an option.
