The eighth generation Hilux was introduced simultaneously on 21 May 2015 in Bangkok and Sydney, and then in the Philippines in July 2015, Mexico and the Gulf countries in August 2015, and Argentina and Brazil in November 2015. The 2.8 liter GD engine was introduced in May 2015 at the Vienna Motor Symposium. This was the first model year of the Toyota Hilux (eighth generation, AN110, AN120 and AN130), 2015 to 2024, which took over from the Toyota Hilux (seventh generation, AN10, AN20 and AN30); the 2016 model year follows it.
