The seven passenger Transit Connect wagon of 2015 was the first seven seat minivan sold by Ford since the Freestar and Mercury Monterey were dropped in 2007. It used a 2.5 litre engine or a 1.6 litre EcoBoost, with a six speed automatic as the only transmission. It sat between the Transit Courier and the Transit Custom in the Ford Transit range. The Transit Connect was Ford's compact panel van, developed by Ford of Europe as a dedicated commercial vehicle.
