In 2013 Subaru unveiled a BRZ tS model for the Japanese market, tuned by STI, with an improved suspension setup, 18 inch silver BBS wheels, an STI body kit and front spoiler, a larger drive shaft and Brembo brakes. The tS was limited to 500 units in total, with a maximum of 250 of them having the GT package. The development code of the 2+2 was 086A, and the eight six references the historic AE86. Toyota bought 16.5 percent of Fuji Heavy Industries, which includes the Subaru automotive brand, in 2008.
