The 2013 Mazda6 was the first full year of the third generation, a sedan or wagon that had been shown in Moscow and Paris in 2012 and was previewed by the Shinari and Takeri concepts. It was a finalist for the 2013 World Design of the Year. The Mazda6 also raced that season in the Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series GX class with three cars, in a class for alternative fuels and technologies that lasted only one year.
