The second generation Transit Connect was introduced on 6 September 2012 in Amsterdam, in the first redesign since 2002, so the 2012 van was the last of the first generation. It had been made in Turkey and was to be replaced by a Spanish built van. The Transit Connect was Ford's compact panel van, developed by Ford of Europe as a dedicated commercial vehicle. It sat between the Transit Courier and the Transit Custom in the Ford Transit range.
