In September 2009 the first result of the tie up with Toyota and Daihatsu was introduced, the passenger oriented Subaru Dias Wagon. The Sambar was facelifted in September 2009. The Sambar of 2009 was in its eleventh year of the sixth generation, a rear engine cabover truck and microvan. Later generations used the water cooled engine from the Subaru Rex, Vivio and the Pleo. The Sambar has used a rear engine, rear wheel drive layout with body on frame rather than unibody construction.
