The 2008 Everest retained the independent front suspension and rear leaf springs of the Ranger, with some adjustments, as it was based on the pickup. It was built for Asian markets from the Ranger, whose crew cab versions were not marketed in North America, in a seven seat form. The Everest was a seven seat SUV built on the Ranger pickup and sold mainly in the Asia Pacific region. In India the Everest was called the Endeavour, and the SUV had no Mazda counterpart.
