The new Ikon, the sedan of the fifth generation Fiesta, was released in South Africa in September 2007 with a 1.4 or 1.6 litre petrol engine or a 1.4 litre common rail turbodiesel, all with a five speed manual gearbox. In Brazil the Fiesta Sedan was facelifted in January 2007. Ford sold the same basic design under the Fiesta and Ikon names depending on the country. The Ikon was a small Ford sedan built on the Fiesta platform for markets where buyers wanted a sedan, such as India and South Africa.
