In 2007 the Impala received the flex fuel 3.5 liter V6 with a FlexFuel rear badge for the LS, LT and LTZ. A new 3.9 liter V6 with Active Fuel Management was also available that year. The LS was the base model, the LT the mid range and the LTZ the top, while the SS used the 5.3 liter V8 with Displacement on Demand, producing 303 horsepower, the first V8 in a Chevrolet sedan since the 1996 Caprice. The SS was the top of the line trim that year.
