The 2005 model year Tribute had the 2.3 liter Mazda MZR four of 153 horsepower as its base engine and the 3.0 liter Duratec V6 of 200 horsepower, with the US built car gaining the floor mounted automatic shifter in 2005. In Japan the buyers received only a single V6 model, a four wheel drive Field Break, because the more powerful four cylinder made the thirsty V6 less necessary, and the four came as an LX, FB-X or Field Break.
