A second sliding door was an option on the Transit Connect of 2005, a feature useful for delivery work. It remained a compact panel van with a purpose built commercial platform and with two wheelbases, one with a raised roof, built at Kocaeli in Turkey and in Romania. It sat between the Transit Courier and the Transit Custom in the Ford Transit range. The Transit Connect was Ford's compact panel van, developed by Ford of Europe as a dedicated commercial vehicle.
