For the 2005 model year the Super Duty trucks received more minor exterior and interior updates, and the 5.4 litre gasoline V8 had new cylinder heads with three valves per cylinder, which made it a 24 valve V8 with variable camshaft timing, with 300 horsepower. The F 550 changed to a Dana S 110 axle. Ford assembles the trucks at the Kentucky Truck Plant in Louisville and at Ohio Assembly in Avon Lake. The Super Duty is a dedicated heavy duty variant of the F Series, sold above the F 150 with Power Stroke diesel engines as an option.
