For 2003 the Grand Marquis received mechanical, exterior and interior styling updates, along with the Ford Crown Victoria and Lincoln Town Car, with a redesigned frame. The redesigned car featured updated door panels and redesigned controls but retained the previous dashboard used since 1995. A new dual media cassette and CD radio was initially standard, and as part of the redesign Mercury revised the available trims for 2003 to GS and LS.
