The 2003 Impala was the last year in which it was offered in only two trim levels, ahead of the SS that was brought out for the 2004 model year. The base model had cloth bench seats, steel wheels and the 3.4 liter LA1 V6, and the car was built in Oshawa, Ontario. It was the last year before the supercharged Impala SS was added, and the base car still had the 180 horsepower 3.4 liter LA1 V6. The car was assembled at the Oshawa plant in Ontario.
