In 2000 the Mazda 1.3 to 1.6 liter B series engines were replaced by a fuel injected 1.3 liter DOHC 8A-FE engine sourced from FAW Toyota in one market. The three door hatchback was available in Europe until October 2000. The Familia Van and Familia Business Wagon were introduced for 2000 and supplied by Nissan under an OEM deal, based on the Nissan AD, and the line was facelifted the next year. The Familia line was replaced by the Mazda3 and Axela for 2004.
