For 1999 the Club Wagon nameplate was discontinued and the Econoline was renamed the E Series, a name closer to that of Ford's full size F Series trucks. The van was sold in 150, 250 and 350 series for half ton, three quarter ton and one ton chassis. It was the best selling full size van in the United States from 1980 until the Transit replaced the vans in 2014. The E Series was Ford's full size van, sold as the Econoline and Club Wagon and as a cutaway chassis.
