The Sienna went on sale for the 1998 model year as a front drive replacement for the rear drive Previa, and was marketed as the Camry of minivans. It debuted with a 3.0 liter V6 and came in CE, LE and XLE trims, with captain's chairs in the second row of the LE and XLE. This was the first model year of the Toyota Sienna (first generation, XL10), 1998 to 2003, the first generation covered for the Toyota Sienna; the 1999 model year follows it.
