The Debonair of 1998 was in its seventh year of the third generation, produced for the final time before the Proudia replacement. It was a four door executive sedan introduced by Mitsubishi Motors in 1964, with three distinct generations in a 35 year production run, a flagship in the Japanese market. The word debonair means gentle, courteous, suave, lighthearted or nonchalant. The second and third generations met with considerable success in South Korean license production.
