In 1997 a five door version of the Life was introduced in Australia, where the EP91 had been sold since March 1996 under three trim levels, the base three door Life among them. It was the only generation of the Starlet sold new in that market. It was model year 2 of 4 in the Toyota Starlet (fifth generation, P90), 1996 to 1999, coming after the 1996 model year and before the 1998 model year.
