Domestic sales of the Lantis in Japan halted in 1997, as sales had been lackluster throughout its production run, though the 323F kept selling well in Europe and parts of Latin America. The Lantis of 1997 was in its fifth year, a car sold under many names, among them the 323F, the Astina, the Artis and the Allegro Hatchback, and a popular used export to New Zealand. The Lantis is an FF layout car with a transversely mounted engine.
