Production of the MS-8 ended in 1997, when the multi brand strategy of Mazda failed in Japan and the company suffered financial difficulties. The Efini MS-8 had been produced and sold by Efini from March 1992 through 1997, and it had been the luxury sedan of the channel based on the Cronos, with the 2.5 liter V6 engine and a hardtop style body. The MS-8 was based on the 1991-1997 Mazda Cronos, the Capella sedan. The sunroof extended all the way above the rear seat footwell.
