In 1996, the last year of the XV10, the 2.2 liter engine was detuned a little to 125 horsepower to meet tighter emissions limits. The last American built XV10 left the Kentucky plant in June, and the Japanese Scepter was phased out starting with the coupe in April, the wagon in June and the sedan in December. It was the last model year covered for the Toyota Camry (third generation, XV10), 1992 to 1996, and the Toyota Camry (fourth generation, XV20) came next, following the 1995 model year.
