A second run of 100 Telstar Radisich V6 sedans, based on the AY Eurosport, was sold in New Zealand in 1996. A wagon and an older sedan called the Telstar Orion also stayed in local production there, using the earlier 2.0 litre SOHC engine, until Ford and Mazda closed their plant the next year. The Telstar was a Mazda 626 with Ford badges and some local styling, sold where Ford wanted a mid size car. Ford later replaced it in most markets with the Mondeo, which was developed as a world car.
