From April 1996 a driver side SRS airbag was standard equipment on every AZ-3. The AZ-3 of 1996 was in its sixth year, a hatchback coupe made by Mazda and sold at Autozam, with a 1.5 liter inline four or a 1.8 liter V6, and in this year the Eunos channel closed and the Presso moved to the Efini stores. The car was a short lived model with the E platform. The AZ-3 was sold abroad as the Mazda MX-3, as the MX-3 Precidia in Canada and as the Eunos 30X in Australia.
