The new Scorpio of 1995 was the first ever Ford design developed entirely using a CAD/CAM computer system, with new armchair style seats and improved interior quality, but the outside Americanised look was controversial, with bulbous globular headlights and tail lights in a thin line. Several months before release Ford set up a focus group involving large sections of the automotive press at its centre in Cologne. The Scorpio was an executive car from Ford Germany with the same floorpan and engines as its predecessor.
