Despite its controversial styling, the luxury interior, handling and performance of the 1996 Scorpio were widely praised by reviewers, with Jeremy Clarkson declaring it as equally talented as the Vauxhall Omega. In general however this praise was overshadowed by criticism concerning the styling. The trim levels were Executive, Ghia and Ultima, available as a saloon or estate with any engine. The Scorpio was an executive car from Ford Germany with the same floorpan and engines as its predecessor.
