The facelifted seventh generation Galant appeared in October 1994 with a new front bumper, taillights and a revised version of the 1.8 liter 4G93 engine with fuel injection and a DOHC cylinder head. The same engine was found in the mid size sports car FTO's GP trim levels introduced in 1994. The older model was sold in Asia until 1994 under the ZX, MF, MS and MX names. The name Galant comes from the French word for chivalrous.
