The Grand Marquis outsold the Ford Crown Victoria in 1994, despite the latter's police and fleet sales advantage. The 1992 Crown Victoria was better received than the new for 1991 Chevrolet Caprice, but its exterior design, inspired by the Taurus, was not as popularly accepted as that of the Grand Marquis. The 1994 Grand Marquis was a four door sedan with the 4.6 liter Modular V8. It was sold in GS base and LS deluxe trims.
