The Efini MPV of 1992 was in its first full year under the Efini name, a rear wheel drive minivan like crossover with a 3.0 liter V6 and a four speed column automatic transmission, based on the platform of the Luce, and sold in Japan in the leather seat and fabric seat specifications. It was classed less as a minivan than as a crossover SUV, and in Japan it was priced from the start at 3.55 million yen. The first generation MPV was a minivan like car that Mazda called a new category of multipurpose luxury saloon.
