In the minor change of October 1991 the Japanese specification of the MPV was renamed the Efini MPV and became a model sold only through the Efini stores. The front grille was changed, and two fabric seat grades were set up in addition to the leather seat specification, which marked the point at which the car developed from a high class vehicle into a more general one. Mazda had called it a new category of multipurpose luxury saloon.
