The Sierra based P100 of 1990 proved a strong seller, particularly on the United Kingdom market, where it was a popular and rugged pickup. It was built in Portugal for Europe on a design set out by Ford UK, with a 2.0 litre petrol engine or a turbodiesel. The P100 was a coupe utility pickup that Ford built on the front half of a family car, sold first in South Africa and then in Europe. It began as the Cortina Pickup and ended in 1995 on the Sierra, built in Portugal.
