In its best year, 1989, the Nova was Britain's seventh best selling car with more than 70,000 sales. Nearly 500,000 Novas were sold in Britain over the ten years, though by February 2014 only 1,757 were still on the road. A television advert in 1987 had featured the Ritchie Valens hit La Bamba playing in the background and used computer generated imagery to let a Nova drive over vehicles in a busy city.
