In May 1989 the Duke was added to the hardtop with the 3.0 liter Cyclone V6 engine, because the tax on three number plate cars had become cheaper. The Sigma of 1989 was in its seventh year of the front wheel drive generation, and in North America it was the Mitsubishi Sigma, the sedan bodywork of the Galant, sold for the 1989 and 1990 model years. The sedan of the fifth generation Galant was sold in North America as the Galant Sigma and the Sigma.
