A sport utility would be based upon the Courier of this generation, and it was to be branded the Raider, with a Mazda twin called the Proceed Marvie. In 1989 the Courier itself was a compact pickup that Mazda made in Japan with a larger and more modern cab. It began as a sedan delivery, became a Mazda built compact pickup, and later a Fiesta based van and coupe utility. The Courier was a Ford nameplate used on very different vehicles in different places and years, from sedan deliveries to pickups and vans.
