For 1989 the minivans saw a minor update to the exterior and interior. To improve fit and finish, Chrysler redesigned the front and rear bumpers with single piece bumper covers painted to match the body, and Dodge and Plymouth each gained an additional trim level at the top of the range, the Dodge Caravan ES and the Plymouth Voyager LX, available only on the standard wheelbase. The Chrysler V6 engine was introduced for the model line in 1989.
