The next redesign was launched in September 1988, introducing an even longer wheelbase option for four wheel drive Xtracab models. Toyota introduced the new generation in most markets in late 1988, though the fourth generation remained in production until 1998 in South Africa. This was the first model year of the Toyota Hilux (fifth generation, N80, N90, N100, N110 and N200), 1988 to 1996, which took over from the Toyota Hilux (fourth generation, N50, N60 and N70); the 1989 model year follows it. Model year pages for the Toyota Hilux run from 1968 to 2026.
