The redesigned 1988 New Yorker was larger, on the Chrysler C platform, sharing much of its design with the Dodge Dynasty, with a Mitsubishi sourced 3.0 liter V6 of 136 horsepower, optional anti lock brakes and, for the first model year only, a three speed automatic. Base and Landau trims were offered, and hidden headlamps, lost when the R body cars were discontinued in 1981, returned. The older E platform car continued briefly as the New Yorker Turbo.
