The third generation Kijang was introduced in November 1986 in short wheelbase F40 and long wheelbase F50 versions. In 1986 the assembly of the Kijang only cost 42 percent of the cost of assembling the smaller E80 Corolla. This was the first model year of the Toyota Kijang (third generation, F40 and F50), 1986 to 1996, which took over from the Toyota Kijang (second generation, F20 and F30); the 1987 model year follows it. Model year pages for the Toyota Kijang run from 1976 to 2007.
