The 1986 CJ-7 was the last of a series that began in 1945, and the last Jeeps featured a factory dash plaque saying that the collectors edition CJ ended an era that began with the legendary Jeep of World War II. In 1987 the CJ-7 was replaced by the first generation Jeep Wrangler, and 379,299 CJ-7s had been built over eleven years, although it is debated whether some 1986 models were left over from the previous model year.
