The Galant Sigma was fully changed in August 1983 after only three years and four months, because the continuation of the earlier concept had hurt sales, and the drive layout changed to front wheel drive. The engines were the G63B with turbo, the G63B, the G62B with turbo and the G37B, in 17 grades, and the G63B was the first in the world with an auto lash adjuster. The commercial taxi versions went on until 1984. Sigma was a model name that Mitsubishi used on several vehicles based on the Galant and the Diamante.
