A partial change was made in October 1983. The Galant Lambda of 1983 was in its fourth year as the second generation, with a body that kept almost the same styling as the first generation, apart from the length and the wheelbase, and with modernized headlights of a different shape and less chrome. Its model was sold by Mitsubishi at the Galant stores, while the Eterna Lambda was sold at Car Plaza. The name Galant is French for gallant and brilliant, and the Greek letter Lambda stands for luxury.
