A partial change was made in November 1982. The Galant Lambda of 1982 was in its third year as the second generation, a two door specialty coupe even though it also came with diesel engines. Only the top GSR and Royal grades had strut independent suspension all around, and the others had a four link coil fixed rear axle, as the rear wheel drive Starion also did at first. The Sapporo was named after the Sapporo Olympics.
