The TG series was released in March 1983, and in 1983 a performance model named the ZZ Z was added. The facelifted TF series had been released in March 1982, with styling often compared to the VH Commodore, though it was introduced on the Isuzu Gemini in 1981. The Gemini was built at Holden's Acacia Ridge plant, which closed in October 1984 after all Gemini production came to a halt. The 1983 Gemini TG added the ZZ Z at the end of the first generation.
