For 1983 Ford introduced its own Ranger to fill its compact truck segment in the United States and Canada, which effectively replaced the Courier there. The Courier of 1983 was sold only in other markets such as Australia, where it carried on as a Mazda B series with Ford badges and styling. It began as a sedan delivery, became a Mazda built compact pickup, and later a Fiesta based van and coupe utility. The Courier was a Ford nameplate used on very different vehicles in different places and years, from sedan deliveries to pickups and vans.
