For 1983 the Plymouth Scamp was introduced alongside the Dodge Rampage, distinguished primarily by badging and trim, and the Scamp was offered only for 1983. The Omni five door hatchback continued with few changes, and the Dodge Shelby Charger had adopted the 2.2 liter high output engine, a development that Carroll Shelby used the following year for the Omni GLH. Chrysler built the Omni at Belvidere, Illinois.
